Most country’s Weights and Measures Departments requires the use of certified custody transfer systems when such systems are used for trade. Some countries like South Africa requires additional local approval over and above international approval like OIML. If specified that a system needs to be used for trade LAS will supply a system approved internationally and if in South Africa also with local certification. Should a system be bespoke then LAS will undertake all actions required to have it certified locally. If outside South Africa, LAS will provide the international approval documents for acceptance or for local certification in such a country.
Custody transfer applications include batch controllers that include additive control and blending that is typically used for petroleum loading gantry operations and flow totalizers typically utilised for pipeline transfer applications.
The flow controller is a device used to measure and control the flow of liquids and gases through a specific design and calibrated control system, which depends on the project requirements and industrial constraints.
